Literature Text

Like a beautiful rose
So lovely, so alive
The rich red and lush greens
Only a fleeting guise
For every rose will one day die
And some are cut before their time
Appreciated for days,
Not months or years

Some days I feel like a rose
And some I wish I was
Even when it means my dying beauty
Would be put on display
And there passersby could see me
They could admire my decay
Then I would know
That day, I was pretty enough
Inspired by a line I read in a Dean Koontz book. I'll quote the line later when I have the book with me.
